Hollywood Sex Abuse Documentary An Open Secret With Bryan Singer’s Scandal Debuts

It’s finally premiered.

The film documentary that features Michael Egan, who accused X-Men director Bryan Singer of underage sex abuse, has finally premiered at the DOC NYC festival in Manhattan this past Friday.

The Amy Berg directed movie called An Open Secret however only mentions Bryan Singer a couple times, and Egan’s lawsuit against him only at the very end of the movie with some text onscreen.

However Michael Egan figures prominently in the film along with a number of former aspiring actors who give interviews on the abuse they suffered from Hollywood bigwig types.

The film director Amy Berg said about Michael Egan that he talked to her about a year and a half before the allegations hit the media, and that her film was NOT about his case.

She said:

“We were all kind of hit by a storm when that happened. Mike definitely encountered an attorney that he probably shouldn’t have encountered and there’s been so much negative publicity…we don’t know about the case, this isn’t about the case.”

She also revealed that Egan participated in the film mainly because of his friend Mark Ryan.

Egan had brought Ryan to a Hollywood party one night where he met Mark Collins-Rector and Chad Shackley. Ryan’s father reads from a deposition that his son woke up naked in Collins-Rector’s bed the morning afterwards and afterwards Ryan descended into a life of drinking alcohol.

Amy Berg credits Egan for allowing her to meet Ryan. She said:

“[Egan] has so much guilt that he brought his friend to that party. Mike opened that door for me; I don’t think I would have been able to meet him otherwise.”

Amy Berg also definitely believes that the allegations Mike Egan has said of Bryan Singer and others is definitely true. She said:

“We knew that he was telling the truth from the very beginning. We had heard his story years before [he filed his lawsuits] so we knew that this had happened and wasn’t the timing that the media liked to portray that it was, because we’d heard it before, so we knew that’s not really how it was playing out. As compelling and horrifying as Michael’s situation is, when you see the film, you’ll see that there’s more and so much more.”

We’re hearing this a real eye opening film about sex abuse in Hollywood amongst young actors, and we definitely would love to see it soon.

And even though Bryan Singer seems to have won his case – he’s still fighting a battle for his public image. And just by being implicated in this type of awful inside circle, his career could be in jeopardy.

We’ll have to see how this all plays out though!
