Queen of Tears Episode 14: Kim Soo-Hyun convinces Kim Ji-Won to get the surgery
The latest Queen of Tears Episode 14 began with a flashback of Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo’s honeymoon. They talked at length about death and their love for each other in the afterlife before the scene shifted to the present moment. Hae-In was left heartbroken after hearing that she would experience total memory loss if she had the surgery. She decides against it. Meanwhile, Yoon Eun-Seong left for Germany against the advice of his mother, Mo Seul-Hee.
The following day, as Hyun-Woo prayed in the church, Hae-In remained against going through her surgery. She took him to a flower field, where they previously created memories during their honeymoon. Hae-In expressed how she would forget all those precious memories and Hyun-Woo. She chose death over losing her memories. Later at night, the Hong and Baek family members tried to convince Hae-In for the surgery. However, she didn’t change her stance, leaving the family heartbroken. Hae-In broke down in tears over her family’s situation.
Mo Seul-Hee met Cheon Da-Hye, threatening the latter to leave if she cared about Hong Soo-Cheol and the family. Hae-In’s mother, Kim Seon-Hwa, arrived to diffuse the situation. Meanwhile, a distressed Hyun-Woo desperately looked for a missing Hae-In when he found her note in the church. Hae-In prayed to God to let her keep her memories of her loved ones. When he saw an emotional Hae-In, the duo shared a hug. Although Hyun-Woo tried his best to convince her, Hae-In didn’t budge. The two broke down over their respective stances.
Hyun-Woo decided to pester Hae-In into reminding her what it would be like to lose him. Meanwhile, Eun-Seong arrived to witness the fun banter between the two, which infuriated him. Hyun-Woo discovered real estate broker Pyeon Seong-Uk’s death as police narrowed down on a suspect. On the other hand, Mo Seul-Hee hinted at potential harm to Hae-In. Secretary Grace, who was part of this conversation, warned Hyun-Woo in her way.
Hyun-Woo was at a store when Grace called him. He took the hint and went to find Hae-In, who he thought was in their car. However, just as he reached nearby, a truck crashed with the car, causing a hit-and-run. A shocked and worried Hyun-Woo thought he’d lost Hae-In and broke the car window with his hand. Fortunately, Hae-In was outside and called him. He hugged her and broke down while holding her hand. While tending to his injuries at the hospital, Hae-In agreed to get the surgery.
Back at Yongduri, Soo-Cheol navigated the Baek family’s restaurant business. Da-Hye asked him to take her and their son to an amusement park at night. Da-Hye’s husband previously threatened her to return or see Soo-Cheol in danger. At the part, Da-Hye left with their son once again but returned after witnessing Soo-Cheol desperately looking for the two. Meanwhile, Hae-In strolled in Germany and hallucinated about her late brother.
During the night before the operation, Hae-In asked Hyun-Woo to let all his frustrations out when he had the chance. After a fun conversation, Hyun-Woo expressed his love for Hae-In. Hae-In handed him a diary where she wrote about their life together, asking him to read it while she was in surgery. She advised him to hand it to her after the procedure, helping her regain her memories. Hyun-Woo promised to do so.
Hae-In headed into the operation theatre the following day as Hyun-Woo and the family waited with bated breath. However, police arrived at the hospital, accusing Hyun-Woo of murdering Pyeon Seong-Uk. As he was taken to the police station, Eun-Seong arrived. Hyun-Woo realized all the latter planned to take over his position in front of Hae-In. Just as Hae-In successfully exited the operation theater, Hyun-Woo left for the police station.
After she woke up, Eun-Seong stood in front of her. However, she only called out Baek Hyun-Woo’s name as it was the only name she remembered. Eun-Seong put her parents on the no-fly list and lied to Hae-In about the two dating in their college days. He introduced Hyun-Woo as her ex-husband. Eun-Seong lied about Hyun-Woo stalking her and being arrested by Interpol as a murder suspect.
By the end of the episode, Hae-In and Hyun-Woo witnessed their first snow separately. Hae-In had her nail color intact, indicating some hope that all would be well between the two. Her heart beat faster as she saw the color, causing her emotional turmoil. Meanwhile, Hyun-Woo also broke down at the thought of not being with Hae-In as promised. The episode ended with Hae-In applying Hyun-Woo’s tactic of repeatedly mumbling important things ahead of a test so his subconscious would remember it. Ahead of the operation, Hae-In mumbled Hyun-Woo’s name to remember it after her surgery.
