George Clooney & Brad Pitt Movie Sequel Already Greenlit by Apple

Wolfs, the Jon Watts action-comedy movie featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, is slated to open in select theaters on September 20, a week before it drops on Apple TV Plus on September 27. Recently, Apple announced they have already greenlit a sequel to the upcoming film.

Apple announces Jon Watts’ Wolfs sequel ahead of premiere

In a recent announcement, Apple revealed that a sequel to Jon Watts’ Wolfs is in development. The original film will have its world premiere as an out-of-competition entry at the 81st Venice Film Festival, which takes place between August 28 and September 7. Initially, Wolfs was supposed to receive a wide theatrical release, but Apple has since shifted toward a limited release for the film.

Watts — arguably most known for helming the MCU Spider-Man films — wrote, directed, and produced Wolfs and has already signed a deal with Apple Original Films to return for the sequel alongside Clooney and Pitt.

In a statement, Matt Dentler, the head of features at Apple Original Films, underscored how important Wolfs as a project was to their streaming platform. “Wolfs is the kind of big event movie that makes Apple TV+ such an exceptional home for the best in entertainment,” he said.

“With George and Brad’s remarkable and engaging chemistry under Jon Watts’ extraordinary direction, Wolfs blends all the great elements of comedy, action, and drama into a hugely entertaining movie that will leave audiences ready for what’s next,” he added.

Denler continued, “Releasing the movie to theaters before making it widely available to Apple TV+ customers brings the best of both worlds to audiences, and we’re excited to see fans embrace the movie as we start working with Jon on the sequel.” (via Deadline)

Wolfs revolves around two professional fixers who have little choice but to cooperate after they show up for the same job. Alongside Clooney and Pitt, the film’s cast includes Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Zlatko Burić.
