Netflix Sets Animated Comedy ‘Long Story Short’ From ‘BoJack’ Creator

Raphael Bob-Waksberg, creator of Netflix’s long-running series BoJack Horseman, is back at the streamer with another animated comedy – Long Story Short.

The order comes ten years to the day that Netflix launched BoJack Horseman, which ran for six seasons, ending in 2020.

Long Story Short comes from Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, which produced BoJack, as well as ShadowMachine, which did the animation. It will launch in 2025.

Per the logline, the series is about a family, over time. It’s about the shared history, the inside jokes, the old wounds. If you’ve ever had a mother, father, sibling, partner, or child, this is the show for you and by the way would it kill you to call them?

Bob-Waksberg will write and serve as showrunner on the series. He will executive produce alongside Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen for Tornante Television. Lisa Hanawalt is supervising producer and will design the original art for the series. ShadowMachine is producing out of their LA animation studio. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley will serve as co-executive producers.

Bob-Waksberg said, “It is legitimately a thrill and an honor to be back doing what I love most: drafting enthusiastic pull quotes for press releases to Hollywood trade publications. Who says you can’t go home again?!”
