Inside Bill Horn and Scout Masterson’s Medieval Nursery

Every knight is a good night for Bosley Jo.

His parents, Bill Horn and Scout Masterson – who welcomed their second child in August – have created a modern chic sleep space for their baby boy, featuring bold blues, antique accents and a courageous theme.

“We’re so pleased that the nursery turned out the way it did,” the reality stars and design enthusiasts tell PEOPLE exclusively. “It’s fun, colorful and original with a touch of whimsy — just like our baby Boz’s personality.”

But the medieval motif took a while to pull together. After poring over nursery ideas, the couple couldn’t find one they felt fit for their son.

“We discussed many, many themes, but we didn’t want to duplicate someone else’s look and we didn’t want to pick a current trend,” Masterson says.

Then, while searching cool wallpapers online, they came across the one — a medieval castle and dragons design — from Paper Boy London. “The whole look of the room came together from there,” he explains.

To complement the adventurous pattern, the proud new parents painted the adjoining wall — which they converted into a bookshelf with Straight and Narrow book ledges from The Land of Nod – the same deep blue of the characters and chose the background’s pale blue for the rest of the room.

“Boz loves to stare at the wallpaper,” they say of their son, who sleeps in a Stokke Baby Sleepi Mini, which is on wheels and can be easily moved around his nursery during the day and to the couple’s bedside for late-night feedings.

But the deep blue wall wasn’t enough for Horn, 42, and Masterson: They were on the hunt for a coordinating accent piece that could grow with their little guy. The couple eventually enlisted the help of ducduc to create a custom four-drawer dresser.

“We are obsessed,” Masterson, 40, says. “The dresser is so well made, we know we’ll have the piece forever.”

In addition to Bosley’s dresser, his dads added plenty of other personal touches including a floor lamp they had converted from an old brass candlestick, a personalized pillow, cuddly blankets from Little Giraffe, and a medieval mobile Masterson found and had customized with his son’s initial.

And when their baby boy is old enough to play with his parents and big sister Simone, it will be a sweet reminder of Horn’s own childhood.

“When we were looking for items to fill up the room, Bill remembered having a Fisher Price castle as a kid,” Masterson says. “He loved it so we bought one on eBay.”
