“The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” the Palace said in a statement.

King Charles “joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

ITV’s royal news editor Chris Ship adds, “Medics say her concussion is consistent with being struck by a horse’s head or legs. She’s expected to make a full recovery, will return home later in the week.”

While the Palace did not elaborate on what happened, Sky News is reporting that “emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on the Gatcombe Park estate, Bristol, on Sunday, to treat injuries consistent with the possible effects of being hit by a horse.”

Princess Anne is an equestrian and she even competed in the Olympics in the 1970s.

Princess Anne spent the last 24 hour of her mom Queen Elizabeth‘s life by her side.
