Lip is pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2023 Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction.
The 2023 Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction is judged by Lip’s editors as well as our panel of esteemed judges: Kate Mildenhall, Sara El Sayed, and Katherine Larsen.
The winner will take home a $1000 cash prize and will be announced on Monday 26th June, 2023.
This year’s prize is supported by Penguin Random House Australia, Ultimo Press, UQP, Scribe Publications, Aniko Press, Fremantle Press, and the Queensland Writers Centre.
About the 2023 Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction
This year marks eleven years of the Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction. Writers were invited to submit previously unpublished and unperformed fiction up to 2000 words that engaged with the theme ‘revolt’. The competition was open to all women and non-binary writers residing in Australia.
This prize is held in honour of Lip’s late founding editor, Rachel Funari, in recognition of her contribution to the arts.
